Companies in New York City will need to re-evaluate their employment screening processes following the passage of two laws in what is titled the Fair Chance Act, also referred to as the Ban the Box Law. The new laws severely limit the type of information employers can pursue through research, interviews, job applications, and background checks. The other law passed is called the Stop the Credit Discrimination in Employment Act. The former went into effect October 27, 2015, and the latter law went into effect last month on September 3, 2015.
